PLANTCOLOR™ pigments come from roots: beets, radishes and purple potatoes. As you can imagine, the process to make pigments from plants is lengthy and precious. Like the majority of Hurraw! ingredients, these roots grew in the bright sun, soaked in the rain, were pollinated by insects, made it through a full growing season and then had lots-of-human-hands-on to complete their colouring destiny. Within a day of harvest, the root juices are extracted sprayed onto a carrier medium (maltodextrin or acacia gum), dried and milled microfine. They get tested for purity before blending into your balms.

Know that you are literally applying root vegetables to your lips and you will sense their natural taste and smell.
